We all have memories throughout our lives: weddings, divorces, historical events, births , deaths etc.. but what's the one memory off the top of your head that has stayed with you that you can remember your age, place and what it was that just seems weird to remember?

For some reason mine is a return trip driving back between Opelousas and Port barre and my mom taking her glasses off while driving an asking my 12 year old self to wipe them clean for her with the shirt i was wearing . I can remember every detail me and my brother sitting in the back seat, her asking and the exact location where it happened. I'm now 50. Why i remember that and cant remember what i did at work a week ago is beyond me.

Yeah, that is an odd thing to remember. I remember odds things my dad would say that I didn't believe was correct at the time. Ends up they were probably incorrect, but they ended up correct (for me).

I remember dreading my birthday when I was turning 9. For some crazy reason at the time, I thought being 9 years old was for girls only.

I still get a chuckle out of that when it randomly pops into my head.

My mom walking in to the den while I was watching Dukes of Hazard on Marshal Foch in 1981 with my little sister after delivering at Lakeside. I was 3 and half and thought, this sucks.

I remember me and my aunt going to the hospital when my little brother was born. The image I have is of her driving and me in the back seat, and I’m looking out over a cutover to see the hospital. In reality the hospital was in the middle of town. I also remember being in the hospital room but only remember my mom watching my reaction when I saw him. I also remember looking at my brother in his bassinet at our house and my other brother, mom and dad looking down on him.

Looking back I understand that my mom was watching my reaction because she’d stayed home with me the previous five years and didn’t want me to be jealous. And I’d guess to say we all looked at my brother in his bassinet on his first moments home so my dad could say how thankful we all should be.

ETA this was 1985

Going in to septic shock from a kidney disease, when I was about 2.5 yo. My room was upstairs and I shared it with my aunt (it was a huge room, converted attic and width of the house), who was waitressing at TGI Fridays, at Cortana, that night. Parents were downstairs. I remember laying on the bathroom floor, looking at the terrible wall paper that looked like a jungle and wondering if I could find Curious George, kind of like Where's Waldo. That is crystal clear. My aunt came home and found me. The drive from Baton Rouge to my doctor at Tulane in New Orleans has some flashes of memory, but nothing like laying on the bathroom floor.

When I was around 8 we were traveling from Ohio to Florida for a beach vacation.

We stopped at one of those truck stops and I went to bathroom by myself. It was late.

Went inside and there was an older black guy standing up against the sink. It was full of soapy water and both hands were working cleaning something tossed in the sudsy water.

What he was cleaning was his massive dong, ugh! I left pretty quickly.

Not sure if this fits…but its kind of odd. When I was about 12 I was riding in the back seat of my parents car…a burgundy Buick. Dad driving, Mom in the passenger seat. You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma was playing on the radio. Going to dinner on a Thursday. We were headed to Giovanni’s on Highland. Turning from Perkins onto Kenilworth, I randomly thought—just as an experiment see if you can remember this very typical moment the rest of your life. Just because. I have so far.

Vladivostok was the northern most ice free port in Russia from 9th grade Mr Landrys geography class. Not sure why I remember it from 40 years ago.

When I was about 10 years old I learned about infinity at school and how there is no limit to numbers. I was at the neighbor kids house telling him about it and he didn't believe me. He called his mother over and asked her if it was true. I distinctly remember her saying, "I guess they got to stop somewhere." It was at this time I discovered that people are morons.

I realized the other day that I still remember every song from my 2nd grade musical. God only knows why.

I'm not alone!
I can sing a few songs from our 3rd grade Western Play/Musical. And recite my speaking part about Sitting Bull and Annie Oakley.

Standing in my grandparents kitchen, looking out the back door into their garden. Mom and her mother making lunch, Wichita Lineman on the radio. I was about 10. Clear as a bell.

In the early nineties when SUVs were becoming a thing I was 6 years old and staying with my grandparents. There was an evening news/fear porn segment on how SUVs were more dangerous than sedans because you perceive your speed as ~20mph slower than you're actually moving.

Now 30 years later any time my wife drives like shite in her SUV, which is most times she drives her SUV, it makes more sense.

In the ER in Covington, LA after eating shite on my motocross bike, high as hell on IV painkillers,me telling the nurse I thought she was pretty right in front of my wife. The doctor tells me “give up buddy, she’s deaf.” Nurse winks at me, I think.

This probably doesn’t count… but I can remember every nook and cranny of my Grandma’s house I grew up in the first 15 years of my life… I also vividly remember the day we moved in… I was only 4 but for some reason that day has stayed with me my whole life…

off topic but has anyone else seen a person they know somewhere that person shouldn’t or you wouldn’t think they’ll be???
