What's the difference between gofundme and panhandling?

Yeah, the gofundme pages raising money for medical bills for cancer patients are just like panhandlers. Sickens me. Get a fricking job you deadbeats.

you don't have to go to the gofundme website.

Everyone has a friend or family member with cancer. Doesn't justify begging IMO when just about everyone deals with it at some point.
I say this as someone that is in the process of renting an apartment in Houston just so that myself and my father that is fighting cancer has a place to stay when we go for his treatments 2 weeks at a time. I am not begging for people to give me money to cover those expenses.
Guess I just think differently because starting a GoFundMe or something is the last thing on my mind right now.

GoFundMe takes 10% of funds raised. Panhandlers typically keep 100% of what they raise.

And don't get me started on people looking for scholarships, filing grant applications, lawmakers who get federal highway subsidies, etc. They should all be able to pay for it themselves without a handout.
