Anyone know what’s the story behind the building at the college dr exit that has clicks and hooters in it but has that large open space in it? What did that space used to be?

Used to be a type of mall?

Is that where the old Fox & Hound was?

Nah Fox and the Hound was right next to Sullivans.
Apparently the owners of that development refuse to update it or sell it.

It’s owned by Hartley Vey - 2 real estate dudes who have long been known for being eccentric weirdos.
One of them died recently I think.

It was called Corporate Mall.
Had a bunch of clothing stores. I don’t think it ever went ghetto. Just remember the preppy kids shopped there during the 80’s
So you would see a lot of popped collars with a blend of either loafers or duck shoes on the feet - you know, to express their individuality.

And that’s the Baton Rouge way.
All I know is that place has a rat problem and has for some time. Source, Sullivan’s old employee.
Yea I couldn’t be paid to eat in that complex.

Glen’s Bombay Club was on the opposite side facing Corporate.
The Catarac Cafe and GBC were the two locations for cougar/milf hangouts.

My favorite place to eat when I was a kid was there.
It was a cafeteria called Duffs. It featured a bunch of lazy Susan buffet tables.
As a kid I thought it was awesome because I could always go back and get more of what I loved. As an adult, I now think I was in love with the precursor to Golden Corral.
It’s kind of like looking at an old school yearbook and seeing what the hot girls looked like back then, and then checking what they look like now on Facebook. It’s a shameful feeling, but rewarding that you dodged a bullet.

Were you in love, or were you in lunch?

That’s prime real estate and they could demolish that building and make something really nice out of it
Instead we get a morris bart with a drive thru to capitalize on interstate construction

The owners had a falling out with each other a while back. They been in and out of litigation for years, and nobody has put in any money back into it, so it has been in a state limbo for years.

Seems like decades at this point. Those guys have to be getting old by now assuming they got ownership of the property in their middle age.

Any cougar hangouts left in BR?
Posted on 2/8/24 at 5:57 pm to PetroBabich
There was a story not that long back on the BR Business Report. The only photos of them were from the 80’s and neither Hartley nor Vey would answer the phone, mail, letters, etc. They were both recluses. Pretty bizarre.
Like I said, I think one of them recently died if I’m not mistaken.
