The biggest thing I miss about college is the huge concentration of similar aged people. I hardly ever see or work with people around my age, and when I do there is a 95% chance it's a guy. So mainly I miss the women.

Undergrad was fun, (not so subtle brag incoming) but when you're maintaining a perfect 4.0 in grad school, it's time consuming and you don't have much time for socializing.

I love real life, dont get me wrong. Just tough for me to imagine college as being more stressful/less fun than working and adulthood. But to each his own

When I say college, I did not mean to include grad programs(MBA, Law school, etc) I lump those in with "work"

In our program, that's the easy part. The profs don't want you to do poorly and lose your scholarship (with a few exceptions). Research, on the other hand, is two steps forward, 1.75 steps back at best.

Penn State didn't mind failing every person in the class because I believe they truly want to combat grade inflation. Plus, PSU has a pretty stellar academic reputation. I agree though that my thesis was much more difficult than the coursework, and if I wasn't trying to maintain a perfect GPA, things would have been a lot easier. In other words, most of the difficulty was of my own doing.

That's the reason I flunked out of college, went back a few years later when I finished partying. Also, I had to pay my own way through the second time.. This will always help you focus more.

I had to pay for everything on my own in college so on top of studying, going to nursing school, clinicals, etc.....I still had to work and not make that much and stress over how bills were gonna be paid.

Out of nursing school I have a job right away. I have more money to spend. I have more free time now. No more studying and stressing over exams and being broke all the time.

If you are an adult out of college for awhile and you are still pining away for your college days....you are doing life wrong.

More stressful yes...less fun, no. Maintaining a 4.0 take a whole lot more effort than working.

Different type of fun now...I can purchase anything I want as far as hobbies goes. However there is no more "college fun", or at least not nearly as much or on the same level

This. My parents help me out a small amount, but I still have rent, electricity, internet/cable, gas, food, anything I need (shoes, clothes, etc.).
My major isn't super demanding, but I am the type that has to study. I graduate next month, but my class to graduate requires me to work a job where I am unpaid. I work there as much as I work my paid job, so it's like having two jobs plus school.

I don't plan to do anything crazy demanding that requires copious amounts of stress that I bring home, so just that in itself is better than getting home from work and having tons of homework.

I also am constantly broke.

You won't ever see me post that comment. Real life is great, but college is a special once-in-a-lifetime point in time, much of which is almost make-believe.

I think the people that claim college was this awesome amazing time likely had parents footing the bill for them.

I had fun in college....don't get me wrong. But when I think back to that time I remember all the stress and money worries more than the random nights going out with friends.

there are none, that would take logic & reasoning which adolescents do not have.

Money is just like running backs in football.

You can never have too much!

Mortgage
Taxes
Vehicles
Medical Insurance
Homeowner's Insurance
Flood Insurance
Car Insurance

Private school education (if you choose)

All cost an assload and always seem to increase much faster than the overall cost of living. Food and utilities are relatively cheap in comparison for what you get out of them.

1. That working a job is easier than High School.

2. That parents can get you out of any jam or they have knowledge that a kid doesn't.

3. Parents never worry about world problems. That everything will work itself out for the best.

4. Good things always work out for your good if you just obey mom and dad and work hard in life.

5. I will find the love of my life and live a good life working with no problems. As an adult, I have a great job but do not have the love of my life or anyone.

As a kid you underestimate the impact of having to pay all the essentials: rent/mortgage, power, water, telephone, cable, car note, and food. All that stuff your parents paid for. You think you can be rich on $40,000 per year. Think again broseph.

These do all suck, but the real killer for me are student loans. I wish I'd worked more in college (I did about 20 hours/week most of the time) so I didn't have that burden for years to come.

That said I'm very fortunate with first job out of college...I enjoy and excel at it, don't take work home too much, and get my nights and weekends off. I don't stress too much about my money while also being able to have great health insurance and contributing a solid amount to 401k. But frick those student loans

Amen to that. I'm in science, and the only woman on my team is the admin who's in her mid-40's. Nothing like being on a college campus with 10000+ girls
