Steep? Yes a lot of the runs in Tride are steep. Short? Not really there are a lot of longer runs - See Forever is a huge run with some difficult areas and some easier parts. It is like 3 miles long and has over 3,000 vertical feet top to bottom.
There are lots of runs where you can string together longer runs they are not single lifts to the top, but you take a chair, ski down/over a little and another chair up and repeat. Once you hit the top you can then have a heck of a run and the best part is no waiting on the lift.

There is no consensus "best" place, they all have pros and cons so it comes down to personal preference.
Maybe stay somewhere like Silverthorne and hit 2 or 3 resorts while there so you'll have a better idea for next trip
