Two bright objects, to my west, one of them with some reddish glow (seen through my binoculars).

The brightest one is Venus.

The other one is Jupiter.

Their orbital positions relative to Earth make them appear close to each other.

I just looked up through some glass and was able to see one of Jupiter's moons. A real telescope could make out 4 moons and some cloud structure.

They've been visible for a month or so.

More specifically, Uranus is setting off fireworks in celebration of the recent gay marriage decision.

An occultation between Venus and Jupiter is forthcoming, pretty cool actually. Can't remember what night they will actually appear to merge as one, the 7th maybe. I dunno, google it.

Earlier in the month they were even clearer and much brighter. Venus, Saturn, and Regulus were all in a perfect line.
