Ft. Polk was the first place that came to mind when I saw this thread.

West Texas plains in mid August

Makes you wonder why they stopped there. Wagon must have lost a wheel or they lacked ambition one.

For all the people saying the delta
It's only depressing if you are poor. I know plenty of people that live in the delta in LA, MS, and Ark and they love it. But they are either a farmer, Doctor, or lawyer. They live on one of the oxbow lakes and go to the country club on Friday nights. The area has probably the best combination of deer and duck hunting in the US . And most of the people rich or poor are as good as gold

All joking aside, why? Who the hell goes to Liberia?

No one anymore. It used to be a huge tourist destination especially for Americans. It was founded by former slaves from the US (Lincoln prefered to send slaves back to Africa over integrating them with whites) who ironically built plantations and basically tried to dominate the indigenous Liberians. That's one of the reasons its such a hell hole now, the freed slaves (Americo-Liberians) made up less than a 10th of the population but kept power until the different Liberian tribes said F that noise.
