In a Sunday school class we have discussed something that is happening to young adults today. At work, they do not like face time with other people when tough questions are being asked. The thought is, they are so used to emails and texts that can be avoided or at least put on simmer, that when folks are asked face to face they get very uncomfortable...

sound crazy?

It was a climax for our country, and it turned us from a cautious country to a fear mongering one.

Not sure I agree. I think before 9/11 we saw ourselves as invincible rather than cautious. If someone screwed with us, we'd get them, no matter how long it took -- like when we tracked down the people who did the first bombing of the WTC. That attitude carried on with getting Bin Laden.

It's really sad now how we blow every minor thing out of proportion.

I do not think that things are blown out of proportion as much as now we think "terrorist" first when things like what happened at Fort Hood yesterday occur. I consider that more "cautious" than fear mongering.

The 60s
Methaqualone Quaalude is a sedative-hypnotic drug of the quinazolinone class that acts as a general central nervous system depressant.

The sedative–hypnotic activity of methaqualone was first noted by Indian researchers in the 1950s and in 1962 methaqualone itself was patented in the US by Wallace and Tiernan.[1] Its use peaked in the early 1970s as a hypnotic, for the treatment of insomnia, and as a sedative and muscle relaxant. It has also been used illegally as a recreational drug. Clandestinely produced methaqualone is seized by government agencies and police forces around the world.

Yes, now...the pill pushers are prospering because of the stress level of living in this society.

Because nobody abused pills in the 1960s--especially June Cleaver

I was born in 1960 and life was a lot simpler. Playing all day and HAVING to go in for dinner or when it got dark.

I was born in 78 and did that. Dinner was at 6 every night and I had to drop whatever I was doing to make it home for it and I loved it!

I think the 80s was the apex decade to grow up in. It had a good mix of tech, toys, Star Wars, video games, etc., but wasn't over saturated like today's kids have it. You still had to go outside.

I would have to agree with you!

Was conceived from 60s love, born in 70 and grew up in that decade, sucked the life out of the 80s and college in early 90s..love it.

Remember that strongly in the 70s, as kid I followed the Afghan War too. Olympic games were better then though.

My mom took me to see Gone With The Wind in small Gonzalez theatre. I recall asking why the black people only sat in the balcony and got their refreshments through a small side window. She whispered something and we went back in after intermission for 2nd half of flick.
