What about a tablet with a kid proof cover on it? That's what we got our nephew for Christmas when he was 2 and he loved it.
No.

Kids shouldn't even be watching tv at that age.

Not even Disney movies?

I'm not saying the tablet is the toddler's only source of entertainment and serves as a babysitter of sorts. But having a portable way to play cartoons and other age appropriate shows for your child (and age appropriate apps they can play on) isn't a horrible thing...esp when you are traveling. Also, our child life department at the hospital uses ipads during painful procedures when they can with our kids(including 2 year olds) to help distract them. You should know distraction is one way to help alleviate pain/anxiety in a child.

Check out the Melissa and Doug collection of toys at School Aids. They are located on I-12 service road between Airline and Drusilla. My granddaughter loved those toys.

Occasional movies are fine, but they shouldn't be staring at a screen for extended periods at that age.

Books are better.

We use the same things for distractions, but Scruffy is talking about watching cartoons or playing video games for hours at a time.

It's funny how time seems to drag but also go by quick.

But of course.

My nephew's parents loved the tablet for him, he still has it and uses it and he's 4 now. They only let him use it for a certain amount of time....and then they can use it when he's sleeping or he's used up his tablet time for the day. My sister in law was a teacher before she stayed at home so you know she is all about any educational opportunity for him and doesn't just park him in front of the tablet for hours on end.

He's getting to be more of a fun age to buy gifts for. I'm thinking 6 or 7 is the year we buy him a drum set, what you think?
