We have them in North Louisiana by the billions. They don't stink, sting or bite but gosh they mess a car up.

What are they, where did they come from, are they really mating when joined at the butt, and do they have a very short lifespan? I can't wait for them to go away...

All that jizz is what makes them stick to your vehicle.

The males literally f**k the females to death. They mate, she lays her eggs and then dies. Only lives 3-4 days.

Male bugs are fortunate.

Mosquitoes are worse than I've ever seen.
Huge black ones.

I hit them leaving Shreveport last weekend. It was like going through a rain shower. I got to Eddies and the place was packed with everyone cleaning their cars just to see out of the windshield.

How long have you lived in LA? Love bugs aren't a new occurrence. Hell, over the last few years I have seen FAR less than there used to be in South LA.

September has ALWAYS been lovebug season here. May is the other time of year they are around, but usually not in the numbers you see in Sept

What i was told, was that these were either brought to USA(florida) or created at University of Florida to eat mosquito larvae.

Unfortunately, they do not eat anything resembling larvae of mosquito, and just screw for about 3 weeks, and then die off.

they are a super pain in the arse when they come out. they fly anywhere and everywhere, and love the heat from ur car engine. I hear they can damage the paint job on being smashed?

It's never been as bad in North LA as it is this year. It's like a normal year for South LA and they aren't used to it

I've been in Louisiana all my life and I'm pushing 59. Trust me when I say they're worse up here than in recent memory.

Wondered if the hurricane pushed them north.

Is it true that they are particularly bad for paint in vehicle?

They rub their butts against each other. Sometimes even three at a time.

See Praying Mantis before you say this. And Black Widow Spider. Male bugs are rarely fortunate.

Yes i would not let them stay on your car overnight. I buy this stuff and it cleans them off bigly:

If you don't get them off the your vehicle , the acid in them will damage the paint over time . People worry about their vehicle front ends and windshields. But a more serious problem with bad infestation this year is they can clog your radiators and cause overheating of the engine . Especially if you have to be on the road regularly and driving higher speeds .

In that case you've earned the right to tell them to get off your lawn. Works every time.
