To be honest though there is a lot of “old money” in Mississippi

I usually think of New Hampshire or Virginia as old money hotspots

What is the cutoff to be considered “old money” is it generational wealth produced by a grandparent or further back than that ?

Yes. A lot has died off now, but I remember when I was a kid and moved to Columbus, MS, that town had more millionaires per capita than any town in the United States. Yes, seriously.

I grew up in Columbus and remember hearing this. I believe it. Columbus was a small town but had a healthy top 1% for a long time. Not so much anymore
