Looking around for a large safe for general valuables and paperwork (no long guns). Also looking for portable safes that I can load up in case of a storm or need to leave quickly. I am leaning towards one of the First Alerts, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask around here.

For your time:

I have a liberty safe and it used to have long guns in it before my boating accident. It's been a great safe

Not sure I want one that big though. Are they fire/water proof?

I know it's fireproof but I don't think that it's waterproof. We have a local dealer in BR. I'm almost positive that they have smaller sizes too.

By definition this is a fricking stupid idea. A thief will simply pick up your portable safe and take it with them to break into later. Either bolt the small safe down, get a big safe or hide your shite so a burglar can't find it.

Just go buy some 3" steel pipe with threaded ends. Put your shite inside, screw caps on each end, put it in the attic around some other pipes.

Do you want my safe model type?
The location of the safe?
My address?
The value of the items in it?

Man you are nosy.

If you really want something secure you have to spend quite a bit. True fire/flood ratings don't come cheap.

I know a few people with International Eurovault safes. Pretty fricking solid compared to other ones I've seen
