Chicks putting an elf random places around the house, take picture, put on FB, all their friends say "ermagherd so fun and cute!!!"

The book was written in 2005, they made a TV show in 2011 and that's when it took off.

The Elf on the Shelf is incredibly popular with kids, and parents like to get creative with it as well.
Just because it is wildly popular doesn't mean you have to hate it to be cool on the OT.

I'm not hating it to be cool. I think the thing is creepy looking. I also am scared of clowns. And hate creepy dolls.
So why should I give into some Christmas gimmick that's only origin is because some author 10 years ago found a way to make money off of parents?
