What is this cable apparatus?

Just had cable installed and found this in the yard.

I don't know but I found that big piece on the left side behind my tv when I moved out of my last apartment. I would like to know as well.

Looks like a filter for blocking or allowing channels. Just a guess though.

Used to pop these things off like candy back in the day. Everyone in the subdivision had HBO and Skinemax. Buried power and cable lines made the boxes so easy to get into.

Yes I need a new range, no I'm not poor, and I'm gonna try it out tonight. Hopefully I get some good skin tv with it.
