2500 sounds fine. Depends on how the space is used though.

this all depends on the layout of the house, but 2500 should suffice

or at least I hope because we have 2500 and plan on having a family of 4

I would think 2,000 is good for 4.

Ideal would be at least 3500. Realistic to comfortably live I would say 2300.

You people are bananas.

1400: enough.
2200: ideal.
3000: biggest I would get even if I were a billionaire. That's not counting the shop, MIL suite, and pool house though.

Grew up in a 3000sqft house and it seemed small. Moved into a 5000sqft with a different layout and another sister, and it was perfect IMHO

Used to have a 2,000 sq ft house with 4 in it. Now that we have 3,000 I don't know how we did it. At the time it never bothered us.

God I'm jealous we don't have basements around here. I'm in 1400 with just my wife now. Probably about 2100 or so for two kids, but if we had a basement, I could stay with the house we're in now.

My parents and we 4 kids grew up in 1300 s.f. My brother and I shared a room and my 2 sisters shared a room. Kids don't need their own rooms.

Ours, with 4 is about 2,500. It's too big. When the kids are gone, I'll downsize. We rarely use the downstairs unless the kids have friends over.
