Good wood flannery area

Had 4-6ft of water according to Congressman Graves when he rode through there earlier. I think the water levels have gone down some since then.

My family's house (where I still lived with my parents to save them money so they can retire sooner) was on the edge of Sherwood Forest on the corner of Goodwood and Trammell by Flannery Road Park.

My dad first noticed the water in the street at 3:30 am Sunday night. We didn't think much of it at first since it's pretty common to see flooding like that on Goodwood. By 4 am the water was in our house and we knew it was serious. We unplugged as many electronics as we could and moved as many valuables as we could to high ground. We called 911 around 5 am to let them know we'd need rescue. Somehow we didn't lose power but we all have AT&T, so we couldn't find out anything from our friends or neighbors. I got most of our info here on the O-T board.

By 9am there was 4 feet of water in our house and 6 feet in the driveway. Our family's 4 cars are almost certainly destroyed. All our furniture and appliances were destroyed. Refrigator damn near killed me as it fell when we finally walked out. National Guard pulled up at 9:30 am with a huge truck to rescue us. Thank God they got there when they did. I'm not sure we'd have made it another hour, and we didn't have a boat.

Whole neighborhood was in awful shape. Couldn't see the tops of some houses even and the water was still rising when we left. The area near us around Flannery and Old Hammond was devastated. It wasn't as bad near St. Thomas More Church.

Last I heard, the whole area near Flannery was still several feet underwater. It seemed what happened to my house was the same in most of the Flannery area.

I went by to see if they were having mass on Sunday and the campus didn't look flooded. Some of the church offices seem to have sandbags all year long, so I'm guessing those problem areas might have gotten wet just from the rain.

From what I saw the area around STM was totally dry and many were there getting water for people. But that was about 25 hours ago now, so no idea if the water has spread or risen since then.

The area of Sherwood Forest along Flannery between Florida and I-12 was devastated. The Blvd de Provence area was completely submerged. Not sure if I'll have much of a house to come back to, but at least everyone is safe.

Damn. That's what we feared. It can't be much better at our house, then.

Just hope we don't get any more rain so the water level can dissipate.

Any other LSU students on here? Do you know if they plan on postponing the start of the fall semester? We're supposed to start next Monday, but I can't imagine we will with so many students homeless and without cars.

Are you including the area of the Flannery Road/Old Hammond Highway intersection with this description?

My parents live in between mollylea and goodwood off sharp. Houses on the low end of the street had 2 to 3 feet of water in them. Luckily the water at my parents house came within about 2 feet before it receded

Also from what I've seen around LSU I doubt they postpone school at all. The urec was operating under normal hours as of yesterday and the only campus buildings affected to my knowledge was student health center and the Edward gay apartments

From what I saw, that was the one area of Flannery in good shape. The intersection is a bit more elevated than the surrounding area.

But my uncle lives 2 minutes away from the intersection, and his house was submerged like ours. And the Blvd de Provence neighborhood was hit hard, too. If your loved one lives near the intersection it's possible there wasn't much water there. Everywhere around there was devastated, though.

What about Sherwood Forest between Old Hammond and Goodwood? I've got an empty rental house on Wellington and haven't heard anything.

Just texted two of my neighbors who live in that area. Both say they had a little flooding, but nothing serious. Hope that's accurate.
