Bleach water. There really isn't anything else that works better. If that doesn't work, you'll have to replace the dry wall. Sorry, but there isn't any miracle product

Wrong. Do not use bleach. People with more knowledge on this subject have posted in other threads about what to use and why not to use bleach.

Negative.

Been trying to let prople know that this is wrong. Antimicrobial is the way to go.

From my earlier post

quote:

Also, don't use bleach. The bleach kills surface mold, but the problem is that household bleach is only about 5% sodium hypochlorite, which means the other 95% is water. That means you're just introducing a bunch of water into a porous substrate in a place already infected with and prone to growing mold. So you may kill a bunch of surface mold but when the sodium evaporates, the remaining moisture left behind just encourages growth for any remaining spores that you missed

This is much better than bleach. After Katrina, treated hundreds of homes along the coast using this. Get a cheap backpack sprayer. Mix it up and spray all exposed wood. Not too heavy, just a light coat on everything. It is also very important to make sure the studs dry out before closing the walls back up.

I also recommend a Concrobium Mold Control product when it comes to eliminating mold..

but I am not so familiar with gutting. I wonder if there is any way you could first treat it.. then paint it with zinsser or kilz primer that has specifics to kill mold..

If you aren't going to just pull it out and replace it..

treat it with that special concrubium according to directions.. then paint it to lock it in perhaps.

good luck to you.

a gallon of Concrobium Mold Control is like 30 bucks and a 5 gallon is like 150

you could also try that brand someone from katrina recommended in here..
