Why does a hobby HAVE to make you healthier? Just curious?

Mountain biking is fun and is great exercise, and trails usually exist not too far from most locales.

Please post links to location in south Louisiana where there are MOUNTAIN BIKING trails.

Was a road cyclist back in the day and yes much more more dangerous with cars/factors you can't control, but more cost effective since you really just need one bike and there's less moving parts that wear down over time

I haven't ridden in about 5 years, but this was not my experience, haha. It was a money pit. Always wanted new wheels, the latest bike (to add, not replace), new power meter, upgraded components, etc..

Golf. Obviously I like playing more with my buddies but I play afterwork probably twice a week by myself.

Also buy/sell/trade sports cards and sport memorabilia. Love going to card shows.

You serious? I know this isn't directed towards me but there are quite a few mountain bike trails in S LA. Cane Bayou is a great trail.

If you mean completely solo, I like to hunt archery elk here in Colorado or ride my bike, mountain or gravel.

If you mean just without my family, I just started learning to skate and subsequently have picked up ice hockey for winter cardio options.

Video games, cook, binge watch tv, watch documentaries on history, science, economics, conspiracy theories, etc.

I also play music a lot. Granted, I also perform in bands, so a lot of it is practice for live shows or writing songs for that I intend to perform, but much of the playing is for me. It gives me a creative outlet that I don’t really get in my everyday life.

You consider watching TV a hobby? It takes zero effort or skill to do it. Just laying in bed or on the couch for hours doing nothing is not a hobby

You also have to know how to do something to read. It takes an effort and ability to do it. Not to mention it's actually good for your health/brain.

There are over 100 miles of paved trails in the greater NO area, most of them on the river levees where there are no vehicles or intersections to worry about. You just get out there and fly.

I have a Marin gravel bike with 32cc tires... So more or less a road config. God forbid I wipe out on that thing. I'm a big dude, and if I hit the ground I'm toast. but I try to ride every weekend. You get to be outdoors with the fresh air, and you can go fast.

Play guitar, write/record my own music, collect, sharpen and repair knives, collect old tools, I have a 1500 lb towable smoker that I use for tailgates and private parties, love to cook and smoke, grow hot peppers and make my own hot sauces. I love to stay busy and try to always do something I enjoy in my spare time. Hope OP can find a hobby. Life's too short to just sit around the house.

The thread a few weeks ago about young people traveling was great. I went back and forth for pages with a guy who said traveling was dumb and an afternoon crawfish boil was just as good as week long vacations to places like Scotland, Puerta Vallarta, and national parks in the US. People don't enjoy life enough.

Seriously if you own a home and a couple of cars unless you are retired there is no end to the shite that needs to be done and you can rest assured that you will be doing them by yourself 'cause ain't nobody gonna help clean the gutters...

That old boy may have enjoyed an afternoon crawfish boil a much as you enjoy trip to Scotland. Folks are different. I have traveled so much for work that to be honest a good cook out with friends and family beats the shite out of going to Europe again and any trip that does not involve billfish is a trip I am going to try to get out of...folks enjoy life in different ways. Now if old boy was complaining about being bored thats one thing but just because something isn't for everyone does not mean those who don't care for it are missing out...
