I need a used truck to pull a car trailer. You can't give someone 30k (The listed price on the used truck for the TD obtuse).

That’s because they all go for more than 30k. Get with the times. Inflation is rampant and cars cost a lot

Pretty sure I can find a used truck to pull a car trailer for around $ 30,000.00 .

Given there are 144 of them that fit the needs within a 500 mile radius... And that's eliminating the three most popular brands... You are correct.

My original plan was to get an old bull nose ford, but time is in short supply these days.

There are a bunch of tundras and titans. And quite a few that having been sitting on lots for over a month. The problem is just getting someone to take my money as I'm buying from over 100 miles away mostly.

At this point, run the card for the damned thing.

If you're making a salesman work for a minimum commission yes you're an a-hole.

By the way, finance only pays the finance manager except for a very small percentage. And you can act like you're easy to deal with but I'm sure its more like "Send me a million pictures, get on the ground and take some underneath, send a video of it running, all in 100 degree heat, and if you give it away enough, overpay for my trade and throw in some free stuff, and want to make next to nothing I might buy from you.

To be clear, doing these things for a customer that is going to buy and doesn't mind making a fair deal for both parties is what salespeople sign up for. Its these demands followed by lack of respect and expecting to drain every drop from the deal is where I have a problem. Its supposed to be a relationship, not dictatorship.

Dear illiterate sales guy,

I was offering to pay asking price.

In short, enjoy your 70 hour work weeks.

You deserve them.

And the coming wasteland where you have to relearn how to sell? You deserve that too.

He didnt actually have a truck, he used a stock photo to find people he can fit into what he does have. You tried to buy it, he probably asked a few questions and figured out you werent a good upsell prospect so he ghosted you

Demand > supply. Guys probably closing deals left and right without having to send any pictures or open this obvious needy beehive that will undoubtedly spark a week long back and forth. you can reference this thread if you need any data on the neediness. You ain’t shite son

I've been on both sides. Car salesmen are far more honest and sane than car buyers.

Sounds like you don’t have the leverage in this negotiation.

Edit: if you’re asking list price via email, it sounds like they’re having staffing issues and the internet sales department is being neglected.

Then you've been in it longer than three years.

These guys who have been it for covid only are getting reaped like wheat.

Finally found a dealer 400 miles away who was willing to answer my two questions. So going get it.

Took way too long.

Good news is, new tow rig that well likely do better then single digits
