What does 12:4 odds mean?

I saw an article that was listing the odds of SEC coaches being fired after this weekend. Coach O was listed at 7:1 while Sumlin was listed at 12:4.

I would think that Sumlin was on a much hotter seat than O but I don't know what 12:4 odds would mean. Is that 3:1?
If so, why not just state it as such?

Can one of you big brains help me understand/ interpret this?

You sure it wasn't 12:5? They normally reduce it to lowest denominator

Read same article. It's 12:4.

If O doesn't beat Syracuse this weekend those odds drop to 2:1 by Monday.

Yeah its not 75%, its 25%

And O is 14.3%, not 1/8

Two things.

1) It would be a REALLY quick trigger to fire the guy that early in his tenure
