Back in the day, Big Mama and Big Daddy were common grandparent names (as opposed to parents, who were just plain Mama and Daddy.) I don't know if it's still a thing. I don't know of anybody who currently calls them that.

big mama big daddy for realz? I can see the olden days mentality though. As back when...it was common to name the first son after their fadder... and add junior till the end. And it would be big Joe, little Joe. or Jo Jo. or just junior.

I had an Oma & Opa also. Dutch or German?

ETA: And I say Aunt like Awnt, not like the insect. I also had some "Tantes", pronounced kind of like tawnt-a.

I know this sounds weird but as kids we called them Connecticut Grandma and Grandpa and Mississippi Grandma and Grandpa.

If I said Connecticut Grandpa everyone knew exactly who I was referring to.

I think that's "Opa!" and it's an expression not the Greek name for their grandfather.

My mom is all I have left and I call her mom. Dad was dad. Only met one grandfather and he was grandpa. One grandmother was grandma and the other was nana. I do have two aunts and I pronounce it ant.

I currently only know one person who calls his grandparents this.

The new thing is to get creative with the grandparents name. Honey, Sugar, Sweetie, GiGi, etc.

I'm not a grandmother, yet, but I have jokingly said I want to be Sugah Puddin' as a reaction to all of these specialized grandmother names.

Old school Abbeville french. We called our grandparents this as kids.

Now its not cool, but as with women's shoes, sooner or later it will come back in style.
