I think it has a lot to do with how spaced out America is. People can't simply walk to restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, etc like a lot of other countries. Everybody has to drive to those places.

I don't buy that for a second.

Americans eat garbage and don't have to do nearly as much manual labor as previous generations.

I don't believe that but I will give you this: Americans probably eat more processed food due to our propensity to do big shopping trips every week or two. I was stationed in Europe and everyone had tiny refrigerators and would stop, daily, at the market for dinner. As a result they eat a lot less canned and boxed food.

Not that this is the case for everyone, but my brother is 6ft about 225lbs and he is considered obese. Dude just likes to work out

ETA: Chicken needs to fix the trending tab. There hadn't been a comment in 3+ hours and it was on the front page
