It's cause wrestlers these days don't load the boot. That was the key.
Always had to stomp a few times to load it.

My favorite was the claw. Dont see it anymore. And what happened to the mythical foreign object in the tights
Or knee pads.

How about greatest specialty match ever? I loved the Rock and roll express vs midnight express scaffold match. They climbed up the week before and dropped a pumpkin (or maybe was a watermelon). shite spooked me. I also loved the coal miners glove match. That shite used to bust people open.

I also remember one of the von Erich's won a math and the heel has to be his slave on his farm for a day. They ended up getting into it on the farm and cut the camera as they were going behind the barn to fight

Most effective finishers I can think of are Razors Edge, Yokozuna's "banzai" drop, spear/jackhammer

You forgot jacknife powerbomb

Fair point, but those were huge matches with long term buildup between huge stars. I'm talking about mid show matches on a regular show between mid card guys, in matches of no consequence. They're killing their own offense, and eliminating any shot that fans might have of them beating anyone credible on the future. I mean the moves look cool but it destroys their credibility.

True. It used to be when you finally saw a guy gearing up for his big finishing move it was a huge deal and they definitely weren't every single match every single week.

I don't know what they need to do to get wrestling back on track but another 96 style Bash at the Beach would be a start.

Though I don't even think that's possible.

However I will say, and have said in the past, Had they, at the height of his popularity, had John Cena say frick the troops and frick all of you to the crowd at a PPV it would've been amazing.
