I mean, I get what you're saying but there is nothing wrong with making sure you're not hiring an a-hole, office gossip, fun police, drama queen, etc.
Someone can have a fantastic resume and background and still be intolerable to work with.
Granted, I agree that it can be done over a beer or lunch. And honestly, if you want a feel for someone's personality, they are more likely to show it in that setting as well.

I understand that.
Asking me what my favorite subject in 5th grade was and why, then asking me what my least favorite was and why, then asking me my favorite and least favorite color and why, all for an engineering position.
I was very close to telling them what i previously said. Some of those silly questions are fine, and i'll put up with 1 or 2, but 4 in a row like those, that are just pointless, that pissed me off. i told them i wasn't interested when they called me back for the second interview.

I was a cocktail waitress. I lasted about 8 months, but some of the girls I started with are still there. It wasn't too bad. Long, terrible hours.. but I made bank. Only reason I quit were the hours.
