What does smoking a bong through a gasmask do? I'm confused as to what role the mask plays.

It's fun. That's pretty much about it. A bong makes you get a big hit all at one time, and it's smooth because it's filtered through water. The gas mask doesn't really do anything. Maybe it makes it to where you keep recycling the smoke and can't pull away from it. It's mostly just kids having fun experimenting though.
