There's a way to preserve that Batson challenge issue on appeal. Wonder if he did it. His only prayer is postconviction relief or some general appeal.
If you're prosecution, it shouldn't be a difficult trial. Obvious evidence. Clear guilt. Only difficulty is making sure you don't gift him an issue for appeal, i.e. forget how to breathe. Should have made sure to put a good two black jurors on, a man and woman, to get all the protected classes in.

He's actually doing a better job with this witness than I would have expected. It does help him that this witness is probably less intelligent than him though.
