I know there are a few watch experts on here. I’m looking to get a casual watch with leather strap, dark face. Something under $500. I originally wanted this Tissot which I still may get but the dial is huge.

Looking at Jomashop, there are a couple others that caught my eye. A Mido, Orient, and the Hamilton which seems a bit more classic.

I know it’s not the luxury watches that get talked about a lot here, but any of these to stay away from? Or any other similar ones in that style that I should look for?

I remember falling in love with that watch when I first saw the press release. Then I noticed the 15, and I've never been able to unsee it

A lot depends on what YOU like re: style, movement (quartz vs automatic), price (which you've already stated). I just picked up my first Tissot recently and really like it (see below). It's all personal preference but I personally haven't seen any strong negative reviews on those you listed.

Timeless, classic, white face is infinitely better for more clothing options.

That watch is way too fancy to be "casual".

Plus it is too small and gay for a man's watch.

This is a man's watch

I'm getting ready to build my own "Seiko Mod" watch.

Look around, there may be something custom you want that you can have including custom printed dials.

The options are endless.

Ok I’m dumb. What’s wrong with the 15? That it’s off because of the date?

I've owner a few Eco-Drives. Those things are absolutely bullet proof.

If you want something to wear for decades without touching that keeps perfect time, a citizen ecodrive is the way to go.

I have a Hamilton khaki field mechanical that I like. I have quite a few straps for it. I use a darker leather strap most often. Find a watch you like, and change straps

You can also get a watch on a stainless bracelet and swap a leather strap so you have 2 looks.

Did you say under $50
They were able to keep the price low because there is no fifteen

Yep. I appreciate that many people won’t care, but it ruins the watch for me.

I still don’t get what’s wrong with the 15.

Ahhh ok. It’s not off by enough to bother me. I’m leaning towards either the Hamilton or the Mido depending on how casual I want to go.

I have 2 Seikos. Im a big fan of them. I had one Citizen, but it wouldnt keep the time consistantly. My Seikos have been great, and both were only around $300ish.
