Probably one of those new homes where the garage is in the front and you can't even fit two vehicles in it.
I've noticed that driveways on a lot of new homes area too narrow. Just imagine all the other shortcuts taken in those things.

Outside the city limits, so it would be under the parish. I didn't think there were any permits needed for this.

doubt you'd need one unless you wanted to alter the curb, a small job like that would probably go unnoticed, better to beg for forgiveness that ask for permission anyhow
