It would absolutely lower insurance rates. It wouldn't happen over night, but in 20 years, when all of those drivers are now the majority on the roads, the amount of accidents would go down substantially IMO.

Traffic would be a bit better, insurance would be lower, and less people would die.

Blasphemy!

Once you get the consumer used to paying a premium at a certain price, you never never NEVER lower the price.

Regardless of any new tech/laws lowering the overall numbers of claims annually.

The market would take care of itself. If an insurance company could offer much lower rates and steal a bunch of customers, they would.

Which happens all the time with these internet insurance companies.

German drivers are far, far better than American drivers. They laugh at our ineptitude. Having driven on the Autobahn, it is an absolute fricking joy. And doing 150 km/hr and having people blow by you in the left lane is a real experience.

You don't have children, huh? It is an absolute pain in the arse to drive your kids everywhere. In Germany, that's less of an issue because the cities are more compact, the communities more walkable (or at least bikeable/mopedable). Can you imagine your 16 year old walking to 5am two a days I'm BR, let alone a city like Houston. Good luck getting there without dying, bub.

I think a lot of parents would actually prefer their kids be good drivers on safer roadways.

The driving age is 18 over there, I'm not saying do that. I'm just saying make it require a lot more effort and skill. Keep it easy to get a permit so kids can practice a ton with a parent/guardian/adult in the car.

I had to pull out of a parking lot, drive around a tiny block with no lights, and pull back into the parking lot. That was it. That allowed me to go 70+ on the interstate as a 16 year old.

They have extremely difficult driving tests that require a ton of skill and studying. Most people fail at least once.

I don't understand why an American politician doesn't run with that on their platform. All it would do is piss off 16 year olds who can't vote and make adults who already have licenses happy.

I would happily support this and whatever the extra costs are to implement it.

I've been meaning to send a letter to my state legislators about this but have yet to sit down and do it. That could fix Louisiana's budget hole.
