I don’t really get the hate. It’s not that dangerous. I’d consider this a hell of a lot more sane than parachuting for example, and also lower than bungee jumping, paragliding off a mountain, freediving to 100 ft, etc. Hell probably safer than scuba diving to 150 ft.

It was stated earlier in this thread but someone died doing exactly what he was doing a few weeks back.

There are better ways to get your rocks off.

The most intense moment of that video was wondering if the 911 dispatcher was gonna answer the fricking phone

Flying is inherently dangerous, but risks can be mitigated. He'd have gotten the same thrill in an ultralight with a nice fabric wing and avoided the whole issue of cords.

Bet if he wasn't holding that fricking selfie stick, he probably would have been able to recover it.

Almost 100% probable. The lack of any resistance on that side led to the issue of his canopy partially collapsing and at such a low altitude there was no time to recover.

But hey, he got a few likes and thumbs up so it was totally worth it.

Those are rookie numbers. Here's a Brit fell 18,000 feet without a parachute:

He might have thought he was dead or dreaming kind of like the dreams you have where the gun wont go off or you cant run fast, except in this one 911 wont answer.

People die doing safe things all the time. He is taking off from the ground with a literal parachute on, maybe his issue was he was going 48mph and if he was going slower it would be safer? Less chance for his chute to collapse? I’m just saying it seems safer to fly in a literal parachute then it does in say a Cessna?

One of the reasons people die in these types of things is not because they are dangerous, but because people do stupid shite in them.
