I'm generally in that crowd. In a "leave em out side" or "put it out of its misery" sense. This was torture. frick that guy.

As far as where we (vets) get blood for transfusions, either from vet specialists hospitals who have blood products frozen

Do normal vet clinics pay for the blood from these specialists hospitals? If so, wouldnt be surprised if the vet was trying to make an easy dollar.

This vet is scum and I am glad he was caught

Even though it's just an animal, that's still fricked up on so many levels.

there really is no blood bank for animals, so where does blood for transfusions on pets normally come from?...

When I read this it got me thinking of this article my son did one of his current events assignments on. He's in elementary school, which is why it's from TFK. I didn't know about this either until I helped him with his report.

This is sickening - at the very least he should lose his license.

However I don't think six months in jail would be too far-fetched - its only fair.

ETA: forget it, kill this bastard - the dog didn't even have the defect, and is now fighting for his life when he didn't even need to be put down in the first place. This monster also abused his own dog.

Our dog used to be a blood donor for LSU SVM. He would go in about every three months and was always on call just in case. When he hit about 7 or 8 he couldn't do it any more due to his age.
