The new road, or at least long stretches of it, seems to be 3-5 ft lower than the current road. It's going to be a flooding nightmare. Engineers, please enlighten me if my concerns are not warranted.

been thinking the same thing

looks like they are taking out all the old asphalt, but it's going to flood like crazy.

You are not alone in wondering about this..why is the road so low in spots relative to the old road and existing side streets? I know they put drainage in but the higher the road the less chance to flood???

Bonus Question - why does it take going on 4 plus years to extend Kaliste Saloom 2 miles from Am Caffery to E Broussard and it's not close to finished? This would be done in Houston in a weekend.

Pinhook rd. and kaliste Saloom were done the same way and have never flooded since being widened. Then again I don't know if they ever flooded like verot does now.

Drove down there two weeks ago. All torn up. But more sufficient drainage alone can allow for road height to be adjusted significantly.

I'd be willing to bet some engineers are planning that

quote:

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Drummer of 1970’s English rock band Foghat today confirmed that their 1975-hit ‘Slow Ride’, taken from their fifth studio album album Fool For The City, was never meant to be a ‘sexy song’, but was in fact about the traffic situation on Verot School Road.

Roger Earl, drummer for the band and one of the founding members, told of how the song came about during an interview with Rolling Stone. “Everyone thinks that Slow Ride is this song that you can seduce the other half with over a bottle of cheap red and a microwavable ready-meal” he said “But honestly it’s not about that at all. Dave (Peverett) wrote the song in 15 minutes on the tour bus whilst we were taking a detour through Lafayette, Louisiana, on the way to New Orleans. We took a road called Verot School Road. Jesus Christ… we were on that 4-mile stretch for two days. I think Stevie Wonder came up with the blueprints or something. Unbelievable. I can only assume it’s been widened or something by now, you’d have to be stupid not to do something about it.”

On one hand you have Louisiana politicians in charge. On the other hand you have "Hispanic" labor forces.
