Venture Global developing $10B LNG facility in Cameron Parish

LINK

Venture Global LNG today announced plans to invest more than $10 billion in a new liquefied natural gas facility in Cameron Parish that will employ carbon capture and sequestration technology to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The project will result in at least 200 direct new jobs, with average annual salaries of $120,000, plus benefits, according to Louisiana Economic Development. At the peak of construction, roughly 2,300 construction jobs will be created.

Venture Global’s new facility, named CP2, will have a nameplate capacity of 20 million metric tonnes per annum of LNG. The CCS process will be used to capture and store underground an estimated 500,000 tons of CO2 emissions from the facility annually. The complex will be on 650 acres in Cameron, including 170 acres on Monkey Island, providing CP2 with direct access to the deep-water Calcasieu Ship Channel.

The site will be constructed in two phases and will include 18 liquefaction blocks, four 200,000-cubic-meter full-containment LNG storage tanks, two marine loading berths, and two on-site combined cycle gas turbine power plants. The CP Express pipeline will deliver natural gas to the facility.

Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel says the new facility will be adjacent to the company’s existing Calcasieu Pass terminal. The two projects represent more than $20 billion in investment in the state.

It's really interesting how SWLA has quietly become the LNG hub of America and possibly the world

They shouldve left this part out if they wanted to entice the baws that live there.

Great development for the area tho

My mom has some land in SW Beinville parish in the Woodardville gas field with some Haynesville shale wells. We get about two calls a month trying to buy Mineral rights. Their offers are up a lot in the last year.

Most of those employed people will live in Lake Charles. Lots of future growth for the city despite being hammered with disasters.

Lots of growth and zero property taxes collected to pay for the infrastructure to support said facility.

The last thing you want to do is sell mineral rights to NG in this rising price environment, not sure what her neighbor has to do with it.

No. That was Monkey Island LNG. Some documents also mentioned Magnolia, but I couldn't tell if Hunter had anything to do with them.

Surprised they picked up the monkey island area.

I've watched them for years now trying to invest. I've spoken to their PR rep several times and they have so far refused to go public with the venture.

Sucks.

Tellurian it is then.

There is definitely a market and location for it.

I wouldn’t go that far.

Just kidding. Glad for them although as someone pointed out, most employees are going to live farther north and commute down there. Still, it certainly can’t hurt.

Yeah, there’s not too much left in Cameron Parish. After Rita and now Laura, many people are not rebuilding and just moving north
