I must disagree. I've been using uber for several years now and have had several instances where the actual rate is twice the estimated. Most notably recently when I recieved a $35-$40 quote and had a $99 tab. I think it has to do with distace covered vs. taking a speedier route.

How is Uber in DC? Can I use it from Ronald Reagan?

As a waitress, I'd want to avoid the rude assholes who don't tip. As a bartender, I'd want to avoid the drunk frat boys making sexual comments to me. As a retail clerk, I'd want to avoid assisting people with wild kids.

Those are things that come with the territory though.

IDK. I totally see why they do it, but I only hope it requires LOTS of bad reviews to see anything happen. What if your driver is just come uptight bible thumper who gave you a bad review for being drunk?

Uber suspended my account and I couldn't request rides. When I contacted them, they told me it's what they do if you are given consecutive bad reviews.

I had no idea why I was given a bad review, and they told me it was basically because my ride was out to suburban Maryland from DC, which the drivers assured me wasn't an issue. I guess he got pissed that he couldn't quickly pick someone else up out there.

I am shocked they didn't offer you a free ride or anything. They have usually gone out of their way to correct minor issues I have had in the past.

On saturday I joked to my driver that we needed to go to Birmingham and he responded with "I would actually be okay with that bc I wouldn't have to drive for the rest of the month", I think they typically make bank on longer trips.

Its great. I live on the hill and use it constantly. You can use it from Reagan, but the cabs are more readily available and easier to access. Aside from that, I use uber 90% of the time just so I don't have to 1. have cash and 2. try to hail a cab.

This was in DC. The quote was for going through town and the driver got on the beltway. The estimator tool didn't indicate the route the estimate was for.

The quote for this ride is 22-30 dollars.

I have a hard time believing I can go from 5 miles outside of a major city all the way to the other side of it at this time of evening for 30 bucks.

Someone will still pick you up. Ive been kicked out of a couple Ubers, once because on the way to KFC my friend was screaming the n-word over and over at the top of his lungs and our driver was black, and I still get picked up every time.

Look up the rates per minute and mile as well as base fare and calculate it yourself

They'll be willing to accept them...while they proceed to tack additional fees for any damage done to the vehicle.

You don't have to tip with Uber. It automatically adds %20.

Like I said, this was in March or April of 2013. I think Uber has come a long way since then. There are certainly many more Uber drivers in DC compared to then.

As for the ratings, my girlfriend was told by a driver that she has a 5 star rating. He told her it is because she is always prompt to get in the car when they pick her up, never makes them wait, and is polite.

Drivers will avoid you if you have a shite rating.

For real? That was the first thing I looked for when I first signed up for it.

You must be referring to Uber Taxi. Not every city has that.

I've asked several of my Uber drivers if they can leave text feedback and every one said no, not sure how you and your girlfriend are getting such detailed criticism
