That's to funny. I can envision them looking at you and saying that thinking WTF is he doing here. What made do it at that rank?

I had over thirty jumps when I went. The only thing keeping me from getting my senior badge was JM school (and night AJ). Did not know how hard it would be on my body. I had an office off of Butner Road (old WW II barracks) and I would go take a cold shower during lunch. Tore my old behind up.

Did my night AJ on Sicily with 3rd SFG (a good friend who was a PA hooked me up with the duty). Thought they would go easy for my pinning ceremony (my buddy did the actual pinning) since I was an LTC. Fat chance. They wore me out. I was black and blue when they were done. Every long tabber that was senior qualified was bashing my chest in. I think a couple of them went to the back of the line and did it again.

Yeah, sorry. Asked at church but we are mostly Army. No one seemed to know how it happened.

Again, my condolences. Much too young.

ETA: Updated with link. My hope is that it does not cause you any additional pain. It has a picture of him in uniform so you may not want to follow it.

My friends and fellow vets love to bullshite each other on their accomplishments and toughness etc. This said not one of them would wear or claim any ribbon or medal not earned. To do so is disrespectful to those who earned them through their efforts and in some cases gave their lives for.
My shadow box is just basic unit type commendations, with a couple of Army Achievement Awards. I still am proud and don't feel a need to claim others I didn't rate.

I think the majority of veterans haven't really done anything spectacular, but we are still a little proud of what we did do.

Haha Awesome. I think I still have a chip in my color bone from air assault pinning. Glad it worked out for you, well done. For those who know that is not any easy accomplishment.

My pastor (who is actually younger than me) is retired 13B SGM from 319th AFAR (ranger and master parachutist qualified). The next morning I went to our men's retreat. First thing he asked me was to pull up my shirt and show him the pin holes and bruises. He just laughed and laughed.

It was worth it.
