the GF, who is a frequent flyer, taught me to immediately get on the phone with customer service. Last time I got bumped in Houston, i called, then went to the line in the airport to wait. By the time i got to an agent, i had worked out a new flight on the phone.

All the Airlines suck, because there is little to no competition. However, you can learn to work the system better.

Had a similar issue with US Air, sans the rude person...

Had a US airways flight operated by AA...tried checking in at one Kiosk and they'd send me to the other. Major PITA.

I go through a travel agent for business trips (which I am on) and she tried many times to work her magic to get me out of here earlier but no dice.

Then you've pissed her off...Our travel dept. would have booked me ANYWHERE else, and then they would have had this dispute with the airline

Not at all. My travel agent felt so bad I was stuck here. The other problem was that she had to get approval to rebook me on another airline and there was no one available at my corporate to get that approval since it was the weekend. She kept calling to check up on me this weekend to make sure I was being taken care of.

I had a US Airways flight operated by AA back in december. Luckily, I used the self-check in kiosk at SXM. They have all the airlines on one kiosk and all you have to do is scan your passport and boom there is your reservation. The ticket did say the wrong gate, but luckily SXM only has 4 main gates so when I realized the mix up all I had to do was walk 50 feet.

Question about US Air and CLT: I have a 4:45 min layover in CLT on my April flight. Where is the best place to get some food, drink and kill some time in CLT?

I did take advantage of the situation by going hiking for a few hours in the mountains but when you've been away from your family already for a week you are ready to get home.

I think there is more to your story. I have a hard time believing there was no possible way to get from Phoenix to Dallas since Friday.

There were plenty of ways..Op was lazy and is trying to blame the airline, his company, etc...

He took it as a sign to take a family free vacation

I have never once had a negative person with Delta. In fact, more often than not, they go out of their way to be nice.

I have even been pissy with a ticket agent before (Delta mistake caused my anger) and she simply said "Sir, I apologize for the inconvenience, and I am happy to assist you, so please just work with me and we will get you on your way"

Sidenote, I DESPISE American, and I wasn't favorable of US Airways before, so I refuse to fly with them period.

I am betting OP has mistress in PHX or was meeting her in PHX. He is blaiming his "extra travel time" on the airline. When he gets home he will tell his wife, honey look I even bitched to the OT so you know its legit.

The airlines have the absolute worst customer service. It's the sad nature of that industry.

Cable and phone providers are worse by a long shot.

US Air is horrible. Their counter agents always pass the buck to the customer service line and the customer service line passes the buck to the counter agents.

Just a terribly run organization.

This is hilarious. This is what happens when you let people walk over you. And the only thing you seem to be mad about is how the black girl treated you.

Fair. I don't have kids, just the wife and dogs, so they'd be ok without me for a couple more days while I enjoy my weekend.

While that would normally work, it was impossible to contact anyone by phone. The normal line would hang up on you, and if you found a line in which you could hold, it was over 8 hours in some cases.

Check out tweets to @americanair to see just how bad it was this weekend. I was supposed to leave from BTR Satruday afternoon and they couldn't rebook my departure until after I was set to return on Wednesday.
