Being from Monroe, I can assure you nobody from Monroe is jealous of West Monroe.

That said I'd imagine the commute in the morning for many gets up to 30 min or more, so that's more than an hour of every day spent just going to work. I'll pass on that.

Like most cities, it's all relative to how close you are to the interstate. I drove from Calhoun to my old office off Lamy Lane in Monroe for about two years. It was a 20 minute drive max during the morning or evening. However, I'm only about 5 minutes from I-20. You can live in some areas of north Monroe and it could take you 15-20 minutes of dealing with start and stop traffic to get downtown.

Are there rednecks in West Monroe? Absolutely.
Is there a worse problem than rednecks in Monroe? You better believe it.

Just stay out of Wal Mart in either city and you'll be fine.

Say it ain't so Son of Big Joe

All these folks opinions will help ya out and I have no doubt you'll find the crew. To get you started: buy a bat signal, pack the ole .22, scout the back roads, and call me when your homework is done.

Oh and start a Bulldog Club Chapter.

No way! where? That used to be the name of the bar were Rendezvous and Encore was FOREVER ago. Please tell me they put it back there.

I'm convinced the same guy owns that place and just keeps "selling it" and renaming it with a slight remodel once every few years

It's where the hawks nest used to be near downtown. Not sure how long hawks nest was there before it shut down but that's the most recent I remember being there. They actually tore encore down 2 weeks ago.

Well as of last week "that place" (Encore/Rendezvous/Honky Tonk/etc.) doesn't exist anymore. Literally. They tore it down and dug up the slab.

I'm afraid it's true, my friend. I need a new bat signal, as i believe the last one was melted to your black ford ranger. The 22 is packed and probably loaded. The back roads will all be new...but the gravel rustling under those tires sounds just the same. I'll be back throughout hunting season. I'll prob need a doe for the deep freeze, so I'll see ya at the NorthWest corner soon!

Spent many a Thursday night's there for karaoke.

Also would go to the Airport Lounge. Yes, the bar/lounge at the actual airport. To this day I still don't know why. My friends liked their long island iced teas, and I was a follower.

Deja Vu still open? That place was a special kind of trashy.
