This is crazy, I was in town there a few years ago and went to a Saturday 4p vigil at St. Peter's, the place was packed; I arrived a few minutes late and stood in the back

janitor @ school recently fired

What does Fr Otis have to do with that? I thought he was retired?

ME SPECULATING:
i think the lady is somehow the main link. it's been rumored that she was helping a drug addict... So me putting things together is that she helped him get a job at the school (brilliant) and that eventually led to his firing which this was a sort of revenge killing.

At this time, the janitor story is simply speculation. The suspect was in relation to the woman helping Fr Otis. Lots more to come, but for the sake of this tragedy, let’s not speculate further and wait for accurate info.

Good to know suspects are in custody. This is why you never assume just because you live in a good area you are ever safe.

I rewatched Primal Fear last weekend. Great movie. Probably not related to this thread.

Father Otis had a long recovery from a stroke which I think occurred in 2019.

He was an accountant prior to being a priest I believe and straightened out St. Peter's books/ debt after some renovations at the church and school.

He was at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Belle Chase prior to coming to St. Peters taking over for the retired Father Bill.

So the janitor is a meth/crack head and was hired by a Catholic School/Church to be clean up after kids?

Do they not do background checks for these type of jobs?

At most schools parents cant even chaperone field trips or school dances with a background check

It's not like a menial position at a parochial school is a real lucrative career. I doubt they had candidates beating down the door.

So why is the school closing down per an investigation?
