PUTNAM COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities have released new information about the two escaped inmates accused of killing two Georgia correctional officers on a transport bus in Putnam County early Tuesday morning.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, a white 2008 Ford F-250 (GA tag BCX 3572) was taken in Morgan County in the Seven Islands Road area. Detectives said the stolen vehicle is "positively linked" to Ricky Dubose, 24, and Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, who have been on the run for more than 24 hours.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, two prisoners were being transported on a bus when they overpowered two Georgia State Correctional Officers who were driving the vehicle. The prisoners disarmed the guards and one of the inmates shot and killed them both.

Investigators said the inmates then carjacked a 2004 dark green Honda Civic (GA tag RBJ6601) and left the scene. They headed west toward Eatonton, according to the sheriff's office.

The prisoners have been identified as Ricky Dubose, 24, and 43-year-old Donnie Russell Rowe. Sheriff Howard Sills said both inmates are now armed with the officers' .40 caliber Glock pistols. Authorities are warning anyone who sees them to call 911.

According to court records, Rowe is serving life without parole for breaking into a Macon motel room and robbing two strangers at gunpoint. Dubose is serving 20 years without parole for armed robbery.

Officers identified as Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue

I mean, that's a pretty serious crime and all, but how the hell does it carry life without parole?

Those correctional officers don't get the credit they deserve. Police officers on the street deal with criminals part of the time, every single person the CO's deal with is a criminal.

Maybe the three strikes law? I doubt he jumped straight from law abiding citizen to robbing people at gunpoint.

GA probably has some kind of "3 strikes" law for habitual offenders.

1. he probably has priors
2. isn't committing any felony while using a gun to commit that felony consider way more serious?

I see prisoner transport vehicles often on my commute and think I'm potentially 10 feet from a murderer on his way to court and what he would do if that van crashed.

to them folks.
I have heard that Angola will have a chase-car with a sharpshooter riding along for certain prisoners.
Anyone verify that?

If the photos are recent, it looks like they've continued to use meth in prison.

In rural parishes/counties, it's not uncommon to have the jail IN the courthouse. So ordinary citizens are in close proximity to inmates every day. Granted most of them are of the petty criminal variety, but once in a while you get a bad hombre.
