Diver dies
The trapped boys will be divided into four groups, the Bangkok Post is quoting a source as saying.
It says the first group will have four people, with the second, third and fourth containing three people. The coach will be in the final group.

The last member of the rescue team to leave the Thai cave, Australian doctor Richard Harris, has lost his father.
quote:
Harris's boss Andrew Pearce says in a statement the father had died shortly after the last of the 13 soccer team members was freed from the cave. Pearce says: "This is clearly a time of grief for the Harris family, magnified by the physical and emotional demands of being part of this week's highly complex and ultimately successful rescue operation." Pearce says the anesthetist and experienced cave diver would return to his home in Adelaide city soon. Harris played a part in deciding the order in which the 13 were freed. Pearce did not say how the father had died and asked for the family's privacy to be respected.

The final four young soccer players and their coach were pulled from the flooded cave in Thailand on Tuesday, ending the epic rescue mission that gripped the world for weeks, officials said. “12 Wild Boars and coach out of the cafe. Safe everyone. Hooyah!” the SEALs wrote on Facebook after the team was rescued. The members of the Wild Boars soccer team came out of the Tham Luang cave complex in quick succession and received medical attention at the scene, a Thai navy official told CNN. The rescued boys were then airlifted to the Chiang Rai hospital, The Guardian reported. In total, 12 boys and their 25-year-old coach were rescued by the end of their 18-day ordeal since divers entered the labyrinthine system Sunday. Four were removed Sunday and additional four emerged Monday after making the treacherous journey to freedom.

Holy crap. That is pretty amazing.
ETA. The concept of diving into a flooded and unmapped cave complex with a limited air supply is something on which I will take a pass.

I expected them to be found running aimlessly around a large open field.

I first saw this story on CNN about 1am this morning. They said the rescue team thought they were getting close to the location of the missing people, but I honestly expected them to roll up on a large group of corpses. I'm glad I was wrong. Pretty amazing that they made it. I'm sure their stories will be interesting

Wow. I had very low expectations after this many days.

Correct. More detail here

Anmar Mirza, a leading American cave rescue expert, said many challenges remain for the rescuers. He said the primary decision is whether to try to evacuate the boys and their coach or to supply them in place.
"Supplying them on site may face challenges depending on how difficult the dives are," Mirza, coordinator of the U.S. National Cave Rescue Commission, said in an email. "Trying to take non-divers through a cave is one of the most dangerous situations possible, even if the dives are relatively easy. That also begets the question: If the dives are difficult then supply will be difficult, but the risk of trying to dive them out is also exponentially greater."

I'm legitimately shocked that they were found alive. But as others have said, that's just the start. Cave diving is easy if you are fully trained and everything goes right...but this is about as challenging as I can imagine.
They would have laid a guideline on their way in, so that's one plus. But still the rescuers now have to get 13 untrained people to completely trust them and not panic while breathing on unfamiliar equipment and being led out in zero visibility. Oh, and there's no "pause" button...once they start each leg of the dive they have to finish or drown. Wishing this team the best of luck, as even if they do everything right from here on out there may not be a 100% recovery rate.

I imagine they'll send a squad for each kid. 1 to anchor him to guide line path and two or three to corral a panic attack.
Hope these kids make it.

WTF? If they got in.... why cant they get out?
Seems, if they were able to negotiate the way in, getting out would be reasonable.... especially with fricking Navy Seals helping them along!
Maybe the "Magic Dragon" wasn't awake when they came in...???
