But according to reports on social media, the man – named unofficially as 50-year-old Roberto Carlos Fernandes – miraculously survived. The victim is said to have suffered fractures to the chest and face and is now in a stable condition in hospital.

My sources say his recovery will be long and tiring but that ultimately his life was spared.
