Definitely.
I come across situations similar to this with my high school students every now
and then, and I'm glad to call them on their bullshite when it's a situation that is
clearly self-created and of no real threat to them. I can't be as purely blunt as I
would like to be, but I do bring them back to reality with the quickness.

I'm waiting for the day someone goes to a "diversity" officer or other similar position and complains about a certain group of people throwing their fists up in the air because they were offended by it because of the "negative connotations" it represents.
