Professor says he’s quitting University of Alabama amid ‘rise of illiberalism,’ DEI pushes on campuses

quote:

A University of Alabama earth sciences professor said he is quitting over what he called the “rise of illiberalism” and a push for diversity, equity and inclusion that he said ultimately harms students in a tweetstorm that went viral.

While Matthew Wielicki said his main reason for leaving Tuscaloosa was to be closer to family in Colorado, the “rise of illiberalism” made his decision easier.

quote:

“The rise of illiberalism in the name of DEI is the antithesis of the principles that universities were founded on,” Wielicki tweeted Monday. “These are no longer places that embrace the freedom of exchanging ideas and will punish those that go against the narrative.”

Good. Hopefully more follow suit. Once they're left with only the loonies, enrollment drops and money is lost.

This is by design. Leftists have worked for decades to morph the American education system into a political indoctrination system. And they’ve just about achieved this goal.

Going to Colorado in almost all cases equals joining the liberal vortex of all vortices.

The professor also said the “constant catastrophism” concerning climate change is “robbing” his students’ ambition, adding that some told him they no longer plan on having families because it would a burden on the world.
This is a massive issue too.

The entire generation of young adults are constantly told the world is ending.

All these progressives have no idea the type of nihilism they are generating here.

rise of illiberalism

a phrase that should be used more often.

illiberal democracy - describes a governing system in which, although elections take place, citizens are cut off from knowledge about the activities of those who exercise real power because of the lack of civil liberties; thus it does not constitute an open society.

The rulers of an illiberal democracy may ignore or bypass constitutional limits on their power. They also tend to ignore the will of the minority which is what makes the democracy illiberal. Elections in an illiberal democracy are often manipulated or rigged, being used to legitimize and consolidate the incumbent rather than to choose the country's leaders and policies.

i think that's why right wing people can like Trump (not conservative,) Tulsi, or Joe Rogan, etc. They just enjoy that somebody is willing to say those guys over there are full of shite even if they disagree with that pundit particular on other issues.

they prefer somebody that is pointing out that you're not living in a real democracy and your interests aren't being represented in DC.
