A United Airlines flight traveling to Denver had to return to Washington, D.C. due to a disruptive passenger, officials said.

United spokesman Luke Punzenberger told NBC News that Flight 1074 returned to Dulles International Airport "after a passenger failed to comply with crew instructions" and was met by local law enforcement. The unruly passenger was detained and transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which operates the airport.

Officials declined to release details about the nature of the disturbance, but one passenger aboard the Boeing 737 told NBC News that the disruptive flyer was tackled by other passengers after an apparent attempt to reach the cockpit, and then claimed he had a bomb.

John R. Ford told NBC News that fellow passengers checked the man for explosives and none were found; the unruly passenger also repeatedly apologized, he added. United Airlines declined to comment on Ford's account, referring NBC News to its previous statement.

doesn't look like a haji, but who knows these days

should just start throwing these people off the plan mid-air rather than risk innocent lives

I can just imagine this guy running full speed toward the cockpit, then tripping on someone's carry on and slamming his face in a seat.

Having flown regularly for years and seeing all sorts of behavior, I have decided there is something about the stresses of travel and being locked in a metal tube with hundreds of people that just sets some folks off. Probably pre-existing mental issues are just brought out by the situation.

Someone please catch me up. All cockpits are now locked and secured to the point that they're pretty much impenetrable, correct?

Much prefer DCA. Although landing there can get interesting.

Its gotten a lot better after basically redoing the whole airport

only shitty thing left is the stupid buses when coming in on an international flight.

it's closer and it takes 10 minutes to get through security.

Dulles is out in BFE and the security lines are stupid long.

Unless a flight is like $200 cheaper(which it never is), I'll always fly out of DCA

It doesn't affect the cockpit one bit if you leave it off airplane mode, but there really is no use in not since you are draining your battery and most likely will never get a signal.
