United Airlines just reached a settlement with Dr. David Dao, the passenger who was violently dragged off a flight earlier this month in an incident that created a firestorm for the company.
Dao's lawyers announced the deal Thursday, but did not disclose the financial terms of the settlement.
The announcement includes praise for United (UAL) CEO Oscar Munoz from Thomas Demetrio, one of Dao's lawyers.
"Mr. Munoz said he was going to do the right thing, and he has," he said. "In addition, United has taken full responsibility for what happened...without attempting to blame others, including the City of Chicago."

He was just looking for a paycheck. Not surprising really. It's not like he was doing it out of principle or anything.

Should have just done that from the beginning.

That high priced lawyer surely blew this out of proportion.

Oh and united still sucks for this.

I would've done the same thing if I were him. frick United. I've been screwed by them far too many times in the past. I would proudly settle with them just to get paid.

frick United.
frick. United.
frick. UNITED. AIRLINES.

I would love to know how much the settlement was. Gotta be north of a million to be settled so quickly.

I don't know if they had any choice. They were either going to lose in actual court or the court of public opinion by not settling.

Are you suggesting that he somehow forced United to randomly select him to be thrown off the plane?

I have a friend in the legal department there. I'll ask her tonight if she knows.
