When we were sold a couple of years ago, I had about 10 years with the company and severance would have been 20 weeks (2 weeks per year of service). With the O&G downturn, we are now only giving 2 weeks regardless of position/title.

If you're upper management you might luck out and get a bigger package if you sign a non-compete or non-disclosure when you leave.

If you're some schmo, they'll give you your month and a half and show you the door.

That could be, OTOH I always thought people who'd been out of work more than six months were toxic to employers, so after that much time there would be a sense of urgency about getting your name out there.
