Looking at the map of that area it appears there are several sidings and switches. Probably had something to do with a switch being in the wrong position.

One train leaves Dallas traveling West at 85 mph, as another leaves Taos, NM traveling East at 90 mph. Which one arrives... shite, we should have used separate tracks.
