TWA Flight 800: Can Someone Explain The Physics/Flight Path?

This post concerns TWA Flight 800, the third most deadly aircraft disaster in American history.
I am not a scientist, pilot, or physicist so it is difficult for me to understand how the 747, after suffering a center fuel tank explosion and the immediate subsequent loss of the leading quarter of its fuselage, continued to not only fly but climb several thousand feet.
When an aircraft breaks up from explosion in flight, would it not immediately begin to fall or at least descend? It would seem that such a catastrophic explosion would not allow the aircraft to continue to not only fly but climb? Are there any pilots or physicists that might offer some thoughts?
TIA

If there was an explosion, ie thrust, that produced force so the wings produced lift, it will gain altitude

When the front breaks off, the center of gravity of the remaining fuselage suddenly shifts far aft of the wings, which are still generating lift. The net result is a large moment rotating the reminder of the plane into a "nose high" attitude (unfortunate terminology). The remaining fuselage climbs until the wings no longer generate enough lift to keep the plane in the air on their own. At this point it continues on a ballistic arc until all remaining vertical speed is bled off, gravity wins, and the fuselage plummets to its ultimate fate.

is this the one that was shot down?

Just from looking at the pic in your OP, it appears the plane became inverted, and the flaps were in the down position and the velocity cause the plane to lift and eventually arc downwards.

This seems to make sense.

This is one of the conspiracy theories.

Yeah, it's real simple, the front fell off.

I don't even have to click.
[Senator Collins:] There is nothing out there… all there is …. is sea …and birds ….and fish
[Interviewer:] And?
[Senator Collins:] And 20,000 tons of crude oil
[Interviewer:] And what else?
[Senator Collins:] And a fire
[Interviewer:] And anything else?
[Senator Collins:] And the part of the ship that the front fell off, but there’s nothing else out there.

It's not in an environment, it's beyond the environment.

I am highly skeptical of a missile strike. I am not much for conspiracy theories.
