All good things must come to an end.
The deal is done. I feel dejected. Been with directv for ar least 13 yrs. Don't know what to do next. Don't know my options.

AT&T deal to buy Directv was approved yesterday. AT&T CEO, John Stankey, sent me a personal email this morning telling me all is great and to not be alarmed. Stankey?! Really?!

quote:

Great things are happening for you and for us. We’re happy to announce that DIRECTV is now part of the AT&T family. Together, we’ll deliver premier video entertainment, high-quality mobile and Internet services, and an even better customer experience. Yeh, right.

This is an exciting time, and we understand you may have some questions about what this news means for you. First, let us reassure you that your services remain unchanged and there is nothing you need to do. If you want to learn more, you can click here to visit our AT&T Newsroom.

We’re already working to bring the best of DIRECTV and AT&T together. And with flexible packages of video, mobile and Internet services, you’ll be able to enjoy video entertainment and digital content from virtually anywhere. Please stay tuned — we’ll have more exciting news to share with you in the coming weeks and months.

Thank you for being our customer. We are more committed than ever to providing you the highest level of service. We know you have choices and we appreciate you choosing us.

Sincerely,

John T. Stankey
Chief Executive Officer
AT&T Entertainment & Internet Services

What do you expect to happen? ATT customer service is lightyears ahead of DirecTV's.

Doubt anything changes in the service itself.

Cut the cord. I haven't had cable in 7 years and don't miss anything.

Get a friends ESPN password for games and you're set.

Just did the math on a compounding calculator.

Assuming $100 a month cable, 8% return at 10 years you're saving just shy of $19,000 to cut out fricking advertisements and reality trash.

So you just mooch off people whom do pay? I'd feel worthless having that conversation to be honest with you

It is the same as stealing your neighbors wifi or living in your parents basement. Yeah, it is free for the moocher and they probably don't mind, but you haven't really beaten the system.

It's pretty stupid when people say cut the cord then list leaching off of another person's cable subscription as a way to do it.

Really having a legal and reliable source of the sports teams I want to watch is the only reason to keep cable. I can get most of them with an antenna, but there are those odd few a year for football. Also pelicans games.

Competition is overrated. Next thing you'll say is that you got an email from Stankey too.
