WASHINGTON — Calling it "a great day for American jobs," President Trump signed a permit Friday to allow the construction of the 1,179-mile Keystone XL pipeline that his predecessor had blocked. "The fact is that this $8 billion investment in American energy was delayed for so long demonstrates how the American government has failed the American people," Trump said as he met with his National Economic Council in the Oval Office Friday.

My only question is why did it take this long? Should have signed that thing the same day as the original travel ban and no one would have even noticed.

Wish the US Steel industry hadn't been neutered so they could provide the pipe for this job

Is it, though? Oil flowing South from Canada doesn't help our oil economy. It just gets refiners cheaper crude.

Another reason to forecast lower oil prices in the future.

ETA: We don't need more supply coming from Canada. We have too much in storage as it is now.

If you followed the Rasmus or Pew research on public opinion on the subject it was over 70% in favor before Soros told Obama to block it, then Dem opinion flipped on the spot to the tune of nearly a 40 point swing, when the Dakota access stuff started I think some got the two confused as the opposition began to rise even moreso. Take partisan politics out of it and I think 1/4 of Americans actually oppose it, 1/4 are strongly for it, and the other half is in a wait and see because both sides make (perceived) fair arguments.

So refiners, their workers, their suppliers/vendors, etc etc etc are not part of the US oil economy?

Yea it's a smoke screen. It will provide short term jobs but the materials to build it won't be made in the US.

Not to mention we already have an oversupply of crude. Why would we want more and why would we want the dirty shite Canada will send us?

Do you have any idea on what this means on all the coal that needs to be mined in East Tx?

Belgians already have a beer pipeline. It's why that country moved up my list of destinations when I become a fugitive in the US.

Long term planning makes this a great idea. It allows for cheap energy which is great for the economy.

The "dirty shite" is good in my book.

It's going to market regardless and can get transported by truck & train or pipeline.
